Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight places.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. However, they are prone to punctures, so be prepared with a repair kit.

Sturdy frame

The latest figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive while still looking elegant.

The basic idea is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and a 3 year old and found that it was able to handle cobbles, grass, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is solid to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require periodic pumping) have suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to take into consideration is the size of the seat and shape. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat, which lets your child face you, whereas others only permit a parent-facing option.

The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or muddy walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4, and includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket and zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels give your buggy greater stability when driving over rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. In addition, they help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have rotating wheels on the front to aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you bump against trees or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.

Many  3 wheel pushchair s feature air filled tyres which means they can handle many different terrains and are much more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures, so you'll need an repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and the Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to go up or down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite broad and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This is problematic if you intend to use it as a jogger or you need to get through doorways that are narrow while on the move. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable especially with a child on the way. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels turn at a whim and are incredibly easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler. she reported: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on uneven terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly useful." I was also impressed by the way it handled the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was extremely stable when for descending or on a rough terrain."

The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of if your home area is an urban area. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars will protect your child from bumps and scrapes when out and about. They are simple and quick to install and make your child feel secure and safe while out on the town or tackling tough terrain.

It is designed to complement the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and padded surface that provides an ideal place for your child to hold to when walking. The robust construction and durable design will ensure that your child will be capable of enjoying a stroll through the city without worrying about falling or leaning towards the side.

The sling's fabric is placed within the frame, not on top like the seat that is modular. This provides a lower center of gravity for your infant at the right height and also delivers great weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a good alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a locking swivel wheels.

With a stylish and sophisticated look, this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. It's available in a range of colours and finishes to fit your personal style. It has a simple, quick-release mechanism that makes it easy to install and remove the bumper bar whenever needed. The bumper bar is easy to clean, as it is constructed from durable materials. This makes it an excellent option for families looking for an attractive and secure accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggie offers the most maneuverability and performance when you go off road. With the perfect geometry, engineering and weight distribution this type of buggy can be able to turn at a moment's notice and be a breeze to steer with one hand. Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.

Designed with fabric sling seat that is tucked away inside the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats, the Sport's clever design permits it to have a lower centre of gravity at the right height for your child - delivering you an easier push, a lighter curb pop (you do not require as much weight or effort to pop the nose of your buggy up and over the curb) and better balance and stability. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres that allow you to enjoy a more smooth, comfortable jog.

As the only pushchair in our collection with a parent-facing seat that can also accommodate a carrycot or car seat to ensure the future of your family and take pleasure in every adventure from day dot and for years to come - all within the footprint of one buggy!

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the space of the buggy. There's an easily accessible large, spacious basket that's quite spacious for a buggy that's this big. Additionally, there's an excellent pouch on the back unit, and two smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood to keep your keys and phone.
